Every party has a pooper...

Sorry to do this, but...I'm embarrassed for you. Yeah, you. You know who you are.

The one who claims to know God's grace and mercy. The one who knows that love is the greatest of all these. The one who would say they know God's character.

You. If that's true--if what you say you believe is true--then why all the hate? If the One you say you believe is always in control, who governs this world, is still truly in control--then why all the fear?

And if you and all of your friends and family called their prayer chains last night and were on their faces before God--praying His will be done...and Obama is in office--why all the disbelief?

If you are disheartened and sad and scared--then you, my friend have put your trust in the system. And the system is jacked--on both sides, from just about every angle. These men are just men. Some trust in chariots, but I will trust in the name of the Lord our God. It's something to consider, don't you think?

Maybe it's time to face up to the cold hard facts. God isn't simply a Republican. God isn't simply anything. His ways are higher than ours and I would rather trust Him than any GOP talking head. Any liberal analyst. Anyone, really.

And while I'm at it, maybe it's time to throw out this little gem...

Romans 13:1-7
1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. 6This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. 7Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

That last part about honor and respect is hard to swallow, isn't it? Look, maybe instead of dwelling on your "whoa-is-me-what-in-God's-name-is-going-to-happen-to-us?!" attitude, you should try something completely different.

Honor those who have been placed in authority over you. Whether your politics agree or not. Try walking in love. Try respecting the position from the standpoint that if all of those people who said they prayed for God's will to be done, were really praying--either God has blown you off--or He knows what He's doing.

You should try being okay with it.
