Minis

My friend Rachel emailed me a link yesterday about these little tiny cakes. They were the cutest things I'd ever seen and I had to try them.

You bake a cake, throw it in a food processor once it's cool to crumble it all up, add cream cheese frosting, mix it up, roll it into balls, and dip it in chocolate.

They're supposed to look like little cupcakes, but I don't think mine do. It was my first go-round, though. I'll do better next time.

Thanks, Chrissy...

Ok, so if you read any of the comments under the "Ladies, all the ladies" post, then you might have been wondering just what the 'Flaming Dryer Fire of 96' was.

Our res hall (yeah, Young East/North!!) had a guys wing and a girls wing. One night, some ridiculous dude over on the guys' side was doing laundry, and put SO MANY clothes into the dryer, like, packed it full of jeans, towels, etc, that the dryer was running....and heating up...but because there was so much in it--it couldn't TUMBLE the actual clothing. It just sat in there. Getting hotter. And hotter...until it caught fire. It was midnight when the fire alarms went off.

Which is when I looked at Chrissy and told her that if I was going to go through the trouble of putting on a bra, it better be a REAL fire. I know...I sort of feel like I was responsible somehow. We ended up all sitting out in the parking lot for hours. The only other fire incident that rivaled its fabulosity was when the football team from Geneva Arms had been grilling and threw the live, hot coals into the dumpster and 'Big Daddy' Warsing was trying to put it out with his Supersoaker when the fire department showed up.
Anyway, today Chrissy emailed me the photo she took of the drawing I put up on our dry erase board outside our apartment the day after the dryer fire. I laughed so hard when I opened it...

And while I was waxing nostalgic, I found these pictures of us, Chrissy:
And the freaking ultimate:
Yes. I was a chubasaurus. With really awful makeup. And apparently I didn't own a set of tweezers. You'll no doubt notice the flannels...and my Birkenstocks. The 90s were not kind to me, people. For God's sake, I was a Monica Lewinsky look-a-like.
But in the end--yay for the good ol' days!

Girl.

So this week, I completely ran out of my perfume. If there's something you should know about me, it's that I almost can't function if I don't have my perfume. I love it. I need it.

I went to get it and was pleasantly surprised to find out that---
it's free gift time at Estee Lauder!

Which got me thinking...I like-no, LOVE-being a girl. Do guys get a bunch of fun, expensive, free stuff when they buy things? It's possible I'm just not aware of it, but I don't think they do. Oh, and as a sidenote, the mascara they put in there is.to.die.for. I finished my makeup this morning, took one look at my lashes and turned myself on.

Ok, so here is a short list of why I think it's great being a girl:
  • free makeup from Estee Lauder with a $29.95 purchase
  • peep-toe pumps/wedges
  • fun underwear
  • lipgloss
  • the color pink
  • getting out of gym class because you have your period
  • there are couches in our bathrooms
  • flirty skirts
  • chunky bracelets
  • men who think you're cute but don't stand a chance
  • we can grow other humans
  • the way it feels to get into bed right after you've shaved your legs
  • chunky rings
  • we can wear tank tops outside of the gym and not look silly
  • changing your life with a haircut/style

Addendum: While I prefer girldom, I'm still super pissed I can't pee standing up.

I *heart* Little League

I was at work the other day and got a phone call from my nephew Christian (he's 6). He wanted to invite me to his baseball game--which just happened to be in the park across from my house.

We got rained out on Monday, but tonight it was on. I took pictures.

Coach Rob (who is ALSO my brother-in-law) and the boys:

Warmin' 'em up, going through some drills:

Christian:

When he started pounding the plate when he got up there, I about died.

And, as always, Carter was there, representing his best buddy and big brother. He's hardcore.

(He actually made me wait to take his picture until he'd put his sunglasses ON. I taught that kid everything he knows...)

Mi casa

I bought this lovely new piece of greenery for my front porch tonight.

All I need is a beatbox, yo.

Still she has yet to notice, since he left regret unspoken
in the distances he's traveled to unravel the emotion.
For instance, all attempts to hold her met with cold indifference,
shifted shoulders, eyes are drifting, lips stay cracked, too numb for kissing.
Demeaned by his scheming this obscene sounding slogan,
digging deep in her mine of taxed trust-bent and broken.
She’s gone missing from this twisted list of past loves and last looks-
the sad truth he offered stung more than his right hook.
But she’s not shook and won’t crack, won’t look back or waver,
building walls, tunneling trenches-she won’t let you save her.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I found this on my computer today.

I used to frequent a Christian record label's message boards and all I can remember is that there was a thread that involved people posting their 2 lines, and someone would build off of it.

I can't remember much about this one, except that it was done by me and some guy named Joe. I dig it.

Yeah, I freestyle like Shaq...what?

Curtsey

Watch me.

Twirled up on my toes and waiting--
music playing soft and slow.

The sweet pain of bowing--
spin me and shine this faded crown.

Dawgs? Dawgs.

Yeah, if you missed THIS then you pretty much suck.

I have an ulcer from the 7th inning alone.

Glorious, people.

And remember:

Ladies, all the ladies...

Hey, I'm taking a poll.

When you wear a skirt and go to pee, do you hike it up around your waist, or do you actually take it down?

Happy Monday.

This just made me really really happy.

You make me wish
I was something more-
the kind of beauty
that powers passion.

Every time.

Ok. Let's talk about THIS commercial and how every time I see it, I cry like a girl.

Wait. Ok, I am a girl...so...I cry like a little girl. Who just found out her sister chopped off her favorite Barbie's hair. You know, the only Barbie she has with dark hair. Not stupid blond hair.

I've said too much. I just love that commercial.

Heh-heh...

Love it. I el-oh-elled.

And, Den...this is for you.

Do me a favor...

This is my friend Bekah and her daughter Nina:

Tomorrow (Monday the 16th), Bek is having brain surgery. It's a long story-but all you need to know is that they have to go in and remove a cyst and part of a tumor from her brain stem.

She is--by far--one of the sassiest, funniest, most gorgeous and strongest women I know. Combine that with her being a little bit of a baby sister to all of us (not just Jess and Christian)--and you can imagine how much we love her.

So when you read this, I'd appreciate it if you'd just stop and pray for her. Pray for her family. Pray for her doctors. Pray, believing that God is truly able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

An afterthought.

Jess and I have been laughing about this since yesterday.

The thing is--let's pretend that Dubbya did, in fact, sell his soul to El Diablo. If you were him, wouldn't you just be pissed? I'd be like, "This is what I get for signing over my eternal soul?! What-like a 2% approval rating?! Even my right-wing fundies have turned their backs on me! Not to mention the fact that most of the global community would like to see me in that ceremonial coffin we used--dead."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, when you're working for the Lord of Darkness, there'd have to be certain perks that were written into the agreement, right? Hence the "selling" of your soul. It's not like he's just borrowing it--it's a transaction--which means that good ol' GW should be getting something in return that doesn't involve unadulterated spite and hatred.

I'd sue Satan's ass for breach of contract.

Loonies and tyrants and Bush, oh my!

Well, Adam, it's no letter to the editor. It's even better--an actual email I got at work today.

Before we get to the good stuff, just let me say that I can respect peoples' intense dislike of President Bush--I get it. No problem. But I also happen to think that as progressive and tolerant as we all like to think we are--most political stances are simply our own personal moral codes hyped up on crack.

That being said, when your hyped up moral code involves, not only poor spelling and grammar, the accusation that the President has sold his soul to Satan, dropped trou, and got naked in a coffin so as to be born again of Lucifer, well...I can't take you seriously.

Sell crazy someplace else, sir--we're all stocked up here.

Subject: Complaint

I am complaining about the film offered by you:George W. Bush: Faith in the White House.

So I guess as long as somebody called themselves a christian, they have a right to do whetever they want? Hitler called himself a christian. I think this movie, this film is a disgrace, and is helping decieve and brainwashed people into thinking bush is a good man, when he is responsible for killing over 2 million Innocent Men, Women, and Children in Afganistan and Iraq to Steal Oil from the Middle East. Also killing 4,000 US. Troops and Injuring over 75,000. While another 1000 Commited Suicide, just to make him rich and steal oil. He is a puppet of the globalists which is turning america into a police state, and I lost all my freedoms.

He he a member of skull and bones, where they sell there soul to satan and go nude in a COFFIN TO GET BORN AGAIN TO LUCIFER

The film should be called "terrorist in the white house." He is helping form a world one government thru the "NORTH AMERICAN UNION" and abolishing the dollar. He signed the Real ID Act, and called for a National ID Card on 06-06-06. No he is not responsible for everything, as he is a puppet, Working for the New World Order.

HE WAS COMPLICIT IN THE 9/11 ATTACKS, WHICH KILLED 5000 PEOPLE, AND ANOTHER 250,000 HAVE TOXIC DUST POSIONING. 9-11 was an inside job as a pretext to set up a one world govt, under a facsist dicatorship. USA Was standing in the way, and the nwo did 911, to bring down the light of the world.Look at the evidence, look at the slip-ups, look at the motivations, look at the eye witness reports. It seems to me our government is under the control of the new world order, right now. Which is the Bilderbergs, CFR, And Triletteral Commission. This Organization is telling goverments to orchistrate terror attacks in countries. I learned this from http://www.prophecyclub.com and http://www.jesus-is-savior.com and I researched this futher on my own.

9/11, 7/7, 3/11, bali, '93, OK city 93, etc Are all False Flag Operations Being carried out by the New World Order. Here is why They did 9/11. Now I am going to give you why they did it.
1. Patriot act
2. Patriot act 2
3. Eliminate the Consitution & Bill of Rights
4. Bring forth the NWO and North American Union and Amero
5. Bankrupt the USA in order to bring forth a NWO (One World Government)They had to bring down the Light of the world to make a new world order.
6. Scare americans to give up there right in exchange for "security" when you will just get tyranny and a police state.
7. Justify an Iraq and Afganistan Invasion.
8. Bring forth a Real ID Act, which was passed on 5-11-05, and then the "mark of the beast"
9. To Pretty Much Allow Bush to do anything He wants.
10. To allow the Military Commissions Act of 2006 to Pass, Which Took out 7 Sections of the Bill of Rights. Bringing America Down, Helps Bring in World Government.
11. Start World War 3 and Help Enslave the Planet (6th trump?)
12. Transfer America Into a Dictartorship.
13. Launch a Fruadulant War on Terror, So they can Call whoever they want as Terrorists, such as Christians, Gun Owners, Liberals, People who believe in a NWO Takeover, and People who Make refrenses to the Consitution, etc.

14. Form a One World Religion, They used Muslims, To Get people to hate Muslims, Next the Globalists are going to targets Jews, and then Christians, in order for people to accept there One World Religion. (I think??)
15. Motivate People to Join the Military

Why would the Govt Kill its own people on 9/11? They killed there own people so they would gain Power as a one world Government, A one world powerful evil. They are now taking freedoms worldwide, as we lose freedoms, and they have more control. They targeted the U.S. Because they were the SuperPower of the World And needed Freedom Loving Americans To beg to give up there rights. The NWO is gaining More Power as We are also Moving towards a North American Union, Where Mexico, and Canada Would Merge Together. We are moving into a Dictaorship.
In 1139 St Malachy Had a vision from God that we would have 112 Popes, We are at 111 Popes, with this pope being 80 years old. The next pope will be the 112th, and Is expected to be the false Prophet to welcome in the Antichrist of the NWO, The World Wide SuperPowerful Evil, As we move towards the end of the 6000 years as mankind has been on the earth.

Why dont the media tell the truth?
The Media is covering up 9/11 Because They are owned by 4 very corrupt Cooperations such as GE, AOL, DISNEY, Etc.., Which are profiting heavily from the Illegal Wars in the Middle East. They are also Under-Control of the NWO. When the Antichrist Takes Power of the WorldWide Dictaorship, The Media will be under Complete Control of Him. The Free Speech on the internet Will be Gone!!
I doupt you will listen to me, or write back, or even read what i said, or look at the evidence, or reseached anything. But Its not me you have to answer to, God is going to Judge you for deceving million of people to support a terrorist.

Hmm. Maybe there are worse things than a democrat in office...

Peonies!

So, I got home from work last night, mowed the lawn and then cut some peonies for inside...

They smell so great and look so pretty-yay!

I can't help it...

Hockey has sucked me in. It helps that it's the Penguins, but I may have been recruited as a fan for future seasons. I'm realizing that these guys work reallyreallyreally hard--it's CONSTANT movement...on ice.

Anyway, suckas-if you missed the game the other night--you should be sad. As for tonight:

Buh.

My blog needs a makeover. I'm hating it.

Allegedly.

Look at what I found hiding in an old CD case:

Now. This CD was made for me by a friend about 5 or 6 years ago. We had been talking about some old school slow jams and I'd been giggling over the likes of Keith Sweat. Shortly after that, he sent me this mix (Alex, not Keith Sweat).

It's in a class all its own, peeps. Here's the playlist (oh, and if you're younger than say...28--I doubt it will be as amusing):

Please Don't Go Away - Boyz II Men
'Cause I Love You - Lenny Williams
If I Ever Fall In Love Again - Shai
Knockin' Da Boots - H-Town
Girl U For Me - Silk
I'll Make Love To You - Boyz II Men
Because I Love You - Stevie B.
I Need Love - LL Cool J
I'll Give All My Love To You - Keith Sweat
Diamonds & Pearls - Prince
Bended Knee - Boyz II Men
I'd Die Without You - PM Dawn
Lately - Stevie Wonder
One More Try - Timmy T
Freak Me - Silk
End Of The Road (en Espanol) - Boyz II Men
