this is what i was faced with on my way to work today. the best part is, i came in late. this isn't a picture of the road at 7am before the trucks had a chance to hit it--it's NOON.
i know what you're thinking--you're thinking, "but car, there isn't anywhere to DRIVE on that road! no tracks, no plowed areas, nothing!" and i would say to you that i know. it was awful. and i'm raging. i hate this. i hate snow. i hate being so dang cold. i hate ice. i hate trying to get my ass to work without a.) dying or b.) wrecking the hell out of my car.
i need to get out. call me crazy, but this crap actually affects my mood and my general overall satisfaction versus dissatisfaction with my life. not to mention, like i tell my mother--palm trees and sunshine don't kill people. this nightmare? yeah. the roads were a mo-freaksta death trap this morning...i don't need that stress.
oh, and the good news is that i work until 7pm. fabulous, right? because by then, after the additional 6 hours worth of snow and freezing rain, the temp will drop, the sun will go down and every road home will be solid sheet of glorious ice...buh. and double buh.

Mmmm...I can't wait!
you.are.in.sane.
I've been told this, among other things.
carly, here's to hoping you get home safe. and you're welcome to come out to california and visit when you get the chance. dennis has a spare bedroom at his apartment...we just need to move his pole somewhere else.
hey car! meg had a little girl, amelia margaret on feb. 4th. deb and i visited her in the hospital (she was there for 2 weeks) over christmas when i was up there visiting seth's family. my roommate sr. year (kristi mitchell, now eckels) had a little boy, joshua ryan on superbowl sunday.
hope you had a safe ride home! days like today make me thankful i take the train!
nancy--that's awesome...tell those girls i said 'hey' next time you talk to them.
and mike--sold. let's just assume den won't mind.
today it was 70 in california.
way to rub it in, ed.
I would think rubbing it in would be more like pointing out that our daily high isn't predicted to fall below 63 degrees for the next 10 days.
While Pittsburgh on the other hand, isn't supposed to get higher than 43.
I would say that's like pouring some salt out and really massaging it.
ouch.
i'd give anything to be in 60 degree weather. bah.
Yeah, well, pretty soon I'll be crying like a baby in the fetal position because it's 112 degrees outside, so you'll get to send all this wound-rubbing back across the states.
it's totally different.
i'll take the heat.
when it's 7 degrees--you just can't get warm.
Yeah, but just like 7 is excessive, triple digits are excessive.
85 is hot. 100+ means that people are going to die.
yes. but if someone dies from triple-digit heat, they die and no one else does.
when it's that cold, the snow and ice come and then you have treacherous roads with a-hole drivers, and THEY can kill YOU.
i win.
Unless you're dependent on the repair man fixing your A/C before you stroke out on your couch.
yeah. but if you're going to stroke out on your couch from heat, i mean...get to a pool. a lake. fill the tub with ice. something.
Unless you're an older person that's generally immobile.
meh. if you're old--then it's probably time to go anyway. especially if you're not all that mobile. it's a quality of life question, really.
that, and then there'd be one less old person to wreck into my car.
You're cold. But you crack me up, so I'm cool with it.
don't get me started on old people.
they like to ruin my cars.
and sometimes smell weird. it makes me uncomfortable.
